As is my custom, I celebrate the tradition of Christmas, with all of it’s meaning as well as commercialism. Sometimes the meaning of the season gets lost in the roar of the corporate engine and so we should find small escapes to reflect and remember what the season is all about. But then the chime for a Skype call goes off, or the ping of new email arriving – the digital age has struck again!
It is with reference to this digital age and it’s sometimes obvious inability to reflect the analog feelings of centuries’ old traditions, that I offer up the following bit of seasonal good cheer!
An Irish Christmas Blessing
The light of the Christmas star to you
The warmth of home and hearth to you
The cheer and good will of friends to you
The hope of a childlike heart to you
The joy of a thousand angels to you
The love of the Son and God’s peace to you.
