International Association of Currency Affairs
Excellence in Currency Awards Program
IACA’s Excellence in Currency Awards program was introduced in 2007 to promote and recognise excellence in banknote and coin production, processing, management and distribution. In keeping with IACA’s mission of making cash the best that it can be, any organisation or individual involved in the currency industry, as well as issuing authorities, commercial banks and enforcement agencies can be eligible for an award. The number of award nominees has increased over the years as industry participants have come to understand the importance of IACA’s recognition. IACA’s Excellence in Currency Awards are presented in three venues; banknote awards are presented at the Currency Conferences, currency technical awards are presented at the Banknote conferences, and circulating coin awards are presented at The Coin Conferences.
2016 Excellence in Currency Technical Awards
IACA is pleased to announce that in conjunction with Currency News, it will present it’s Excellence in Currency Technical Awards for two categories at the upcoming Banknote Conference 2016 in Washington, May 23-26, 2016.  IACA will accept award nominations from February 15th through March 15th, 2016.
Anyone may submit a nomination for an eligible technical banknote project via IACA’s website. Organizations are encouraged to self-nominate their important initiatives.
Nominations will be evaluated on both (1) the requirements as set out in IACA’s Guidelines for the Excellence in Currency Awards, available on the IACA website, and (2) the quality of the nomination description and supporting documentation that are provided to IACA. The highest quality nominations will include brief, well-written descriptions of the projects nominated, together with good quality photographs or other illustrations that support the reasons for the nomination. The Guidelines explain the factors that IACA uses in reviewing nominations.
IACA will make presentations of the following 2016 Excellence in Currency Awards categories:
Best New Currency Feature or Product
Best New Currency Innovation
To be eligible for the 2016 awards, nominated currency features, products or innovations must have been launched during the two-year period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2015 (eligibility period).
