During a recent trip to Asia, I spent two days with a new business associate in Taipei. This gentleman and I have a habit in-common – we both like to collect currency from other countries. Although my own collection grows with every trip I make. it can not compare with the collection of notes that I saw in his collection.

Who knew that Antarctica actually has it’s own currency. I have never seen or heard of this before. Now I am on the hunt for my own notes from the very frozen, southernmost continent. I can only wonder how many places there are to spend it?

From the sublime to the ridiculous – the country of Zimbabwe, as we all know, has a rather significant hyper-inflation problem. Rather than re-value their currency, they have obviously chosen to keep adding zeroes. As I researched the currency of Zimbabwe I discovered to my shock that my associates example of a 10 billion Zimbabwe dollar note is by no means the extreme example I thought is was. As recently as 2009, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe produced a 100 trillion dollar note. Can I say “now I have seen it all”, or are there more zeroes yet to come?
