2015 Americas Cash Cycle Seminar
Less than 60 Days Until the Americas Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS)
Fort Worth, Texas USA –Â December 7-10, 2015!
In less than two months, Currency Research (CR) will proudly host the 2015 Americas Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS) in Fort Worth, Texas. From December 7th to 10th, delegates from an international cross section of the currency industry, including Central Banks, Commercial Banks, Cash Management Companies/CiTs, Printworks, and Industry Suppliers, will come together to engage in lively conversation and debate about the newest cash-focused trends, issues, and innovations.
CR is constantly intensifying its commitment to promote and disseminate best practices and global trends so that all regions worldwide may have an equal opportunity to debate policy and research relevant to the industry. In keeping with this goal, the 2015 Americas seminar offers delegates a wide range of learning options, including two full days of Plenary Session Presentations including two panel discussions, a variety of Sponsor Breakout Meetings, a hands-on exhibition area, a Pre-Seminar Workshop on Cash Recycling, a Post-Seminar Symposium on Banknote Production, and two exclusive tours. Delegates will also have plenty of opportunities to network with industry suppliers and colleagues during Receptions, Lunches, and the Texas-themed Delegate Appreciation Dinner. View the preliminary agenda here.
EDUCATIONAL PLENARY SESSION PRESENTATIONS
CR has a great program planned for attendees, including presentations on a wide array of topics covering an entire spectrum of case studies from global perspectives. Industry leaders will speak about trends, successes/challenges, and key initiatives taking place in the cash circulation industry today. The full list of presentations is available here.
Among the many interesting and educational presentations planned for the seminar are:
- Panel Discussion on Cash Visibility led by Barbara Bennett, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
Barbara Bennett, Vice President and Chief Strategist of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, is responsible for policy and strategy formulation for the Federal Reserve Banks’ FedCash® Services function and assesses emerging trends in payments practices, cash usage, and currency quality, and also works with a council of Depository Institution customers to promote a collaborative approach to cash supply chain issues. The panel will ask the question: ‘If retailers like Walmart, Macy’s, Amazon, and Zappos can use supply chain logistics tools to deliver better service at lower cost, why not do the same for cash???’ Tracking cash shipments more effectively, getting rid of paper manifests, taking idle time out of deliveries and pick-ups, and reducing risk, errors, and exception items – these are just a few of the very significant benefits that Cash Visibility promises the industry. The panel will discuss how major financial institutions, armored car companies, retailers, and the Federal Reserve are working together to develop a vision for the cash traceability systems of the future using standard product identifiers and message formats. The panel will provide an update on the effort and lead a discussion on its benefits and how to get involved.
- End-to-End ATM Servicing by Holly J. Miller-Downour, JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Holly Miller-Downour is Vice President and Sourcing Group Manager for JPMorgan Chase & Co. and has category responsibility for National Transportation including Overnight and Regional Courier, On-Demand Messengers, Armored Services, Vault Equipment and Supplies, and selected Branch Administration Services. In this presentation, Ms. Miller-Downour will elaborate on an idea that evolved from a “hallway†conversation around the challenges JPMC was experiencing with the ATM Customer Experience. The audience will be walked through the process by which the idea evolved into a collaborative, end-to-end ATM Servicing Conference with over 50 attendees from Chase, ATM hardware, ATM maintenance, and Cash-In-Transit service providers with specific objectives that will be discussed. The conference approach included Process Review, Idea Generation, and Collaboration. For the first time in this industry, all parties came together in the same room to work together and help their customers improve customer experience received at ATMs.
- Cooperation and Transparency in Cash Management Operations: the Brazilian Model by Walter Tadeu Pinto de Faria, FEBRABAN and João Sidney de Figueiredo Filho, Banco Central do Brasil
In this joint presentation, Walter Tadeu Pinto de Faria, FEBRABAN’s Deputy Director of Operations, and João Sidney de Figueiredo Filho, Banco Central do Brasil’s Head of Currency Management Department, will discuss the collaboration, structure, and ongoing efforts of the Central Bank of Brazil’s Department of Cash Circulation and FEBRABAN’s Commission on Cash Management.

- Death of the High Speed Sorter by Toshiba
Toshiba has been providing Note Sorting Solutions since the 1960s and has incorporated the latest technology, greater functionality, and increased configuration flexibility. Today, the solution is the IBS1000, which can provide the performance and efficiencies that were historically only available on High Speed sorter platforms. By implementing the IBS1000 note processing operations, you will be able to process and package 100% of the incoming deposits in a single pass, including facing and fitness using a single FTE. In addition, because the IBS1000 is so cost effective, Toshiba can offer the vault operation redundancy to eliminate any chance of disruption to the operation. In this breakout meeting, Toshiba will present the details of the benefits that can be achieved with the IBS1000.
- As Countries Introduce Clean Note Standards – How Can They Manage the Quality of Currency in Circulation to Meet National Targets by Innovia Systems
As Central Banks and their commercial partners increasingly look to outsource note processing, how do they maintain the control over the quality of notes and also ensure the authenticity of notes in the cash cycle? Innovia Systems will discuss how they have developed a range of solutions that enable organizations involved in note processing or policy enforcement to assess the authenticity of notes and also establish the quality of notes in a consistent manner.
- What You Measure You Can Improve by CONTROLTEK
All of us know we can improve our business processes and we have some ideas about how to do that. Some of those ideas are obvious, you just lack the time or resources to put them into action, but other ways have yet to be discovered and just might be easier and more cost effective to implement. Instead of focusing on the technology to solve the obvious problems we all assume are your biggest issues, in this discussion we will focus on observing what is actually happening in your business and look at ways to gather information about the processes involved. With that data, the undiscovered inefficiencies will come to light and solutions could present themselves that we never imagined.
2015 PRE-SEMINAR WORKSHOP
For delegates interested in a smaller setting in which to engage in a deeper analysis and discussion about cash-related issues, Henry Zanzer from Janus Global will be leading an interactive Pre-Seminar Workshop on Cash Recycling: The Evolution of Physical Cash Management. Workshop participants will be invited to share their views with industry peers and discuss the challenges of implementing the next generation of recycling equipment, front and back-end, change in processes, and the consequences of this evolution for stakeholders. Please note that this workshop is not included in the registration fee.
ROUNDING OUT THE SEMINAR EXPERIENCE
Once again, the Americas Cash Cycle Seminar will host an informational meeting by the Cash Management Association of the Americas (CMAA) on December 8th. Now in its fourth year, the CMAA leadership will discuss many important agenda items relating to the future of the association and its role in the industry. All Seminar delegates are warmly invited to attend the meeting to find out more about the benefits of CMAA membership.
Delegates can also join two special tours organized exclusively for the 2015 event: a Tour of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Cash Operation on Monday December 7th and a Behind-the-Scenes Tour at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s (BEP) Fort Worth, Texas Production Facility on Thursday December 10th. These tour experiences are bound to be fascinating and will treat delegates to close-up views of the latest in cash operations, including new technology printing equipment and processes, as well as note verification processes.
