A Preview of Banknote Conference 2016
23 August, 2015
Currency Research (CR) are pleased announce that registration is now open for the upcoming Banknote Conference 2016 taking place at the J.W. Marriot in Washington, D.C. from May 23 – 26th! Since acquiring the conference in January 2015, we have been hard at work to ensure that “the definitive forum on emerging trends and leading technologies in the banknote industry†maintains its high standard and we continue its long and rich history of providing an opportunity for government and industry peers to engage in discussions on the leading technology trends and the state of the industry today.
To kick off the new conference, a logo designing contest was held amongst the conference sponsors to help bring a fresh perspective to the conference design as it moves forward into an exciting new future. Many logos were submitted and the winner of the logo design was De La Rue. Marci Chavez, President of CR, stated that the logo “captured the spirit of the conference’s future†and “the shape blended the past logos into a fresh new lookâ€. The runner’s up, in no particular order, were KBA-NotaSys, Kurz and Oberthur Fiduciaire. To see the new logo and the runners up, please visit the website here: http://www.banknoteconference.com/highlights.
As well as finalizing the many details about the conference, we are currently welcoming presentation submissions until October 1st from Central Banks and Government Printers who have new and improved technologies or innovative uses of existing technologies within the following areas: Banknote Design, Security Features, Durability, Adversarial Analysis, Ease of Use Features, All phases of Banknote Production, Quality, Issuing, Sorting and Destruction. Make sure to submit your proposal now to take part in this premier conference.
The Banknote Conference is pleased to offer a Bureau of Engraving and Printing Tour as part of the conference – this will be taking place on Monday May 23rd between 10am and 12pm. The Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), serves as the Federal Government’s most secure and efficient source of vital Government securities. With production facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas, the Bureau is the largest producer of Government Security documents in the United States. The Bureau designs and produces a variety of security products. As the Government’s only source for paper currency production, the Bureau prints billions of Federal Reserve Notes for delivery to the Federal Reserve System each year. The Bureau’s research and development efforts focus on the continued use of automation in the production process and on counterfeit deterrent technologies for use in security documents, especially U.S. currency. Make sure to register early to secure your place on this tour, as space is limited.
Make plans to register before January 29, 2016 if you are a government delegate and before September 30th if you are an industry delegate to ensure you get the lowest price! Once you have registered, make sure you book your room at the J.W. Marriot – we are happy to extend a special room rate to registered delegates. The J.W. Marriott is within walking distance to monuments, museums, shopping, the National Mall, local attractions, restaurants, the Metrorail subway system and many other major points of interest in the city. It features fine dining, a lounge, beauty salon, gift shop, safety deposit boxes, multi-lingual staff, valet parking, same-day dry cleaning services, 24-hour room service and a full-service health club and spa. Space is limited though, so make sure to book your room early to avoid disappointment.
